The area of the park "Strandzha" and its contact zone represent a unique collection of monuments of spiritual and material culture from international, national and local significance. Almost anywhere cultural evidences from the Eneolithic and Bronze Age, Thracian megalithic culture, antiquity, Middle Ages, the Bulgarian Revival and the Bulgarian most recent history, and what is more, such dense concentration is rare in Europe. Unique of its kind phenomena are the sunk settlements in the Bulgarian aquatory of the Black Sea. Sites of marine origin are located in the adjoining territory of the park, in the bays of Varvara, Ahtopol, Sinemorets, Silistar and north of the mouth of the river Rezovska, which are direct evidence for a developed Thracian civilization with active navigation, shipbuilding, economic and trade relations, far before the Greek colonization. So far, more than 450 monuments have been found on the territory of the park, of which 20 dolmens, 24 mound necropolises, 11 independent tumuluses, 2 unique dome tombs, 13 ancient medieval villages, 17 fortresses, ancient roads, 83 chapels and a historical place of national importance - the site Petrova Niva (Peter’s Field). The territory of the park has 280 architectural and artistic cultural monuments, of which 18 churches and 268 Bulgarian Revival houses and 4 historical monument indicating the Ilinden-Preobrazhensko Uprising.
Sinemorets
Sinemorets is a small village located on a peninsula, to the south of the mouth of the Veleka river and some 20 km south of Tzarevo. The present name of Sinemorets is a literal translation of the Greek “galaza”, which means sky-blue. Sinemorets is one of paradise places at the Bulgarian Black Sea with beautiful beaches and picturesque nature. Not far from Sinemorets the submarine studies in the Butamyata bay found ceramic articles of 5-6th century BC and from the Middle Ages. Anchors and lead facing of ancient ship were found here. Also Thracian tombstones and a small fortress may be seen in the peninsula. Sinemorets is the last resort village at the South Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The nature has met here in a unique manner lovely pure beaches with the green forests of Strandja mountain reaching the coast. The silence and the tranquillity of the virgin nature combined with the cleanest and fish richest river – Veleka, make Sinemorets one of the most attractive places in Bulgaria for summer holiday.
Silistar
Silistar area is located just 3 km southwards from the Sinemorets village, on the road to Rezovo village, on the last beach strip before the Bulgarian boarder with Turkey. The area is part of the coastal eco-systems of the migratory birds called Via Pontika. The Silistar Bay is surrounded by a picturesque coastline, rocky heights and slopes covered with century-old oaks and other trees. This is the perfect place where everybody can touch to the real nature and feel the special touch of the Strandzha Mountain and the Black Sea altogether. At the Silistar Bay the Silistar River finds it’s way to the sea. Another interesting fact is that the area is inhabited by over 550 plant species, 30 kinds of freshwater and passages fish, 40 kinds of mammals and about 200 kinds of birds. Rare and protected bird species such as the Imperial eagle, the Black stork, the Special Dove, etc nestle in the rocks and the dunes around Silistar. Sand lily grows on the beach. Silistar has been declared a protected area since 1992 with a declaration by the Ministry of Environment and Waters.
